Land Yeo and Kenn Rolling Valley Farmland and Nailsea Farmed Coal measures
The most prominent opportunity for nature here is to create a landscape richer in foraging habitat for greater horseshoe bats roosting at Brockley Hall, which will also benefit plenty of other wildlife. Much of this land is Grade 1 or 2 agricultural land, and so measures that benefit wildlife while maintaining food production (such as improving the management of hedgerows for wildlife) are particularly important.
Reducing pollution entering waterways, which ultimately drain into the NSLM ditch network, is also important for improving the status of protected sites at Tickenham and Nailsea Moors.
Priorities for nature recovery
Delivering the priorities for nature recovery is particularly important in the mapped Focus Areas for Nature Recovery. ‘Landscape recovery’ measures, which will have the biggest impact on nature recovery, are particularly relevant in these Focus Areas.
There is a greater amount of land where extensive grazing creates diverse, dynamic and shifting habitat mosaic, including successional habitats and scrub.
